I’ve had a really bad last few weeks and I just wanted to take the chance to thank all of you for your beautiful and uplifting comments on each and everyone of my blog posts. These last few weeks have made me question everything that I do and every sense of my being as a person. My whole life I was taught to be nice, tell the truth and be honest with myself, when out in the real world there are a bunch of people telling me the exact opposite. Fit in, do what you’re told and then do it all over again. So here I am, stepping on egg shells and paying the rent until I finally find out what I’m here for. In the meantime, I will take comfort in your wonderful recipes and stories and continue to work out what it’s ‘all about’.
Foodmyfriend.com recently hit 100 likes on Facebook and I am so grateful. You guys keep me so inspired everyday and are usually the only reason I go home and continue to cook! My blog is my space to do and feel what I want and I am so honoured to share this space with all of you. Thank you for ‘liking’ me and if I haven’t done the same for you, it is not on purpose. Could you please leave your Facebook links in the comments if I haven’t?
In light of this, it’s time for another compeition! I will be opening this competition up to all my lovely friends WORLDWIDE! So what do you need to do? Just take a moment to think about what makes you happy and leave it in the comments below! I will be picking the winner off a random winner generator on the 21st of February.
This is the most incredible vegetarian book that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. My beautiful friend Michelle purchased it for me a few years ago now and it is still an amazing source of inspiration for me everytime I open it up. I recently lent it to my Mum and she had the same reaction so I can’t be too wrong!
Easy huh
Tyler, ice cream sandwiches, the girls I work with, Flatpac and cheese makes me happy. Good luck guys and have a beautiful week x x x

i’m so sorry you’ve been having such frustrating experiences lately. don’t give up on who you are, you’re fabulous! xo
You are too sweet Kale!
I’m so sorry that you’ve had a tough few weeks but I’m glad that we could help! Today, something that is making me so happy, is spending time with my husband. He’s been away for a week, and my house has been very empty.
It’s nice when they come home isn’t it
Tyler is away at the moment. I haven’t had time to miss him yet but I’m sure I will tonight.
Cass, I am so sorry you’ve been having such a tough time
Sometimes life really does throw up some very challenging things and it sounds like you are in one of those phases. If it is any help, I think the values you aspire to (being yourself, honest, nice) are pretty great ones and I suspect the people who matter in the long run feel the same way…at least, that’s what I have to tell myself when I have those tricky weeks.
As for what makes me happy? My husband, exercise, chocolate and coffee
Thanks Kari, that really helps
Thank you for your super kind words. I think we are on the same wave length with our happiness happenings!
Hi Cass, I hope things will start looking up. That looks like a lovely cookbook to have.
Thanks Mich
I’m so sorry that these haven’t been easy for you. It’s not fun I know, but stay focused on the positive if you can. Love Flatpac. The little things make me happy. Right now, the sun in shining in London. that hasn’t happened much and i don’t think it will last long. but I’m enjoying the now.
Enjoy every day
I’m sure Miles is helping out with your happiness too. It’s hard not to smile at his little face!
Really sorry you’ve been having a hard time Cass. I really love your blog, your enthusiasm and your positivity. Don’t let the nutters get you down – they’re not worth it. Sending a big cyber hug to you.
My boys are making me happy right now; enthusiastically drawing, making things and chatting on the way home from school. Oh, and our hilarious, cheeky new kitten is making me happy too.
PS. Great prize, but I don’t need it! I was given a copy for my birthday and it’s my new favourite – the photos, the recipes, everything.
Thanks Saskia
It means a lot. I am so jealous of your kitten. . . we are looking into a new furry family member too
I’m glad you are enjoying the book. I love everything about it!
you are amazing and strong! I love your blog. Chin up and keep up the great work!
Thank you
Don’t you worry about what anyone else says, you’re doing great!! It’s the little things that make me happy – I take a moment each day to appreciate something beautiful around me. Most of the time it’s nature, that always makes my heart smile
Like taking a nice walk and actually looking around
Thanks Tara

Hi my friend – just want to say, if there was a “love you button” that would be the one I’d choose every time I visit your blog!!
It is so tough going through phases like this. I hope you can be compassionate and gentle with yourself though it all. I am thinking of you Cass and sending you love
I have the second book, Jerusalem and I love it!! Great recipes, wonderful stories and beautiful photos.
Oh Anne you are so sweet! Thank you very much
I feel better already!
I’ve heard about that book from friends and actually almost bought it the other day! What makes me happy, hmm…snowstorms! I’m excited for ours tonight.
Hope everything is okay over there!
Stay strong and positive. Do the things that make you happy. Have cuddles, eat yummy food. The bad stuff will pass. It all comes in cycles.
Thanks Hun. Feeling much better now
Hi Cass,
Hope you and the buns are having fun in the sunshine, and have time to relax and enjoy the day
This is my first post… so here it goes! Things that will make me happy:
Spending time with the lovely animals/friends around me.
Good food, even if they are left overs today, those leftovers are yummy!
Food again… eating the Meringue Butter Cream Icing I made yesterday from this blog. On a spoon. Did make it to go with bananna muffins, but spoons work just as well!
Watch my dog, Poppy. After waiting 16 years for a maremma, seeing her in the garden fills a day with happiness (so long as she’s not squashing the succulants).
Ohh Poppy makes me happy too
She’s so sweet!
