L’Orfeo Restaurant and Lounge – Phuket

Firstly, let me say that this restaurant is well worth the travel. It would have been much easier if we had of had a motorbike, but to be honest, the roads in Thailand scare the hell out of me and I’m a bit of a ‘safety salamander’. Don’t worry though, I soon had a carafe of wine in me. From Chile to be exact, 320baht ($10.25AU). Tyler caught up to me with 2 Heinekens at 100baht each ($3.20AU).

I started with the baby asparagus and scrambled eggs. Everything was so fresh and I love that they made the asparagus the main feature and recognised that great produce doesn’t need to be fancied up. A bargain at 140baht ($4.50AU).

Thinking it would be a small salad that I could eat with my main, I ordered the ‘Blue Cheese Salad’ at 220baht ($7AU). It had so much blue cheese that I couldn’t finish it! A beautiful salad that I nearly couldn’t finish. Look at the size of it!

For my main, I ordered the Melanzane ‘a la parmigiana’ at 290baht ($9.30AU). Seriously good quality mozzarella was the first thing I noticed. Delving deeper into the delicious mess, the eggplant was cooked to perfection and I struggled to get through the whole plate.

Finding myself looking at the specials board, I ordered the dessert trio 250baht ($8AU). A trio of their most popular menu items. A dark chocolate mousse, creme brulee and a lemon curd and meringue tart. So good.

Tyler of course opted for the ‘Green lemon sherbet with smirnoff vodka’. 4 shots of vodka (120mls) and 1 scoop of sherbet for 200baht ($6.40AU).

You can find a sample of their menu on their website, but you really need to go there for the full low down! The set up is really pretty. Outside is more of a fine dine area, it is well decorated and nicely lit. The inside has more of a relaxed feel with couches and cushions.

Tyler had the ‘Homemade Shrimps Ravioli w/ Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce’ at 310baht ($10AU) and the ‘Duo of Lamb, Gratin Dauphinois & Rosemary Sauce’ at 690baht ($22AU). Where he was sitting was a bit dark for the wrath of my camera, plus he hates it when I take photos in restaurants!

Especially of him! <3

L’Orfeo – 95/13 Moo 7, Sai Yuan. T. Rawai, A. Muang ; 83100 PHUKET

It costed us 1000baht ($32AU) return in a taxi from Kata Noi Beach.
